About us

The London Nautical School was founded in 1915, as a consequence of the official report into the loss of the “Titanic”. In 1990, it became one of the country’s first 11-18 comprehensive secondary schools for boys to be awarded grant maintained status.

In September 1999, we became a Foundation School within the London Borough of Lambeth. The school is situated in Stamford Street on the south bank of the River Thames, in between Blackfriars Bridge and Waterloo Bridge.

The student council is a vital apsect of school life at LNS. It plays a pivotol role in determining the issues that are important within the school community and how this affects everyone within the community. In order to ensure that a diverse range of opinions are heard there are elections for members of the council,  and both formal and informal meetings. The student council can be contacted by email studentcouncil@nautical.lambeth.sch.uk

The student council have attended staff training, curriculum and behaviour meetings and have worked with staff to provide their views on school policy. In addition they have presented ideas and bids for PTA funding, and have been instrumental in fund raising for charities such as Dr Barnardo’s and the Haiti appeal. Presently a sub group of the counil is working on the school garden project with The Bankside Trust.
