Details will be publishged here once known.
Entry Qualifications
To be offered a place in the London Nautical School Sixth Form students will normally have a minimum of 5 A* – C grades at GCSE including English, and Mathematics. To be eligible to pursue a subject at AS level students will normally be required to have at least a grade B in that subject at GCSE. To be eligible to pursue the BTEC National Diploma in Sport, students will normally be expected to have at least a pass with Merit in the BTEC First Diploma.
Each student follows either the BTEC National Diploma or AS Levels. Students following AS Levels will normally study four subjects in Year 12. In exceptional circumstances students may be permitted to begin three subjects.
Applicants will be invited to a meeting to discuss their suitability for courses from January 2009.
Students must be born between 1 September 1992 and 31 August 1993 to be eligible for a place in the London Nautical School Sixth Form in 2008-2009.
Over-subscription
In the event of there being more applicants achieving the entry qualifications than the number of places available for a particular subject, then the following criteria will apply after the initial admission of pupils:
- Mean GCSE points score including Maths, English and Science. Short course scores and vocational course scores will not be considered. Applicants with the highest mean GCSE score will be given priority.
- Date of receipt of application. Earlier applications will be given priority.
- Admission of children in public care (looked after children).
- Specific medical needs, social needs and special needs where the application is supported by written specific professional advice as to why admission to the School is necessary.
- Siblings of students currently attending the School
- Nearest walking distance to the School-students who live the nearest distance from the School.
Appeals
Parents will have the right of appeal to an independent Appeal Panel if they are dissatisfied with an admission decision of the School. (Full details of the appeal procedure can be found in the London Nautical School’s main prospectus).
