About us

The London Nautical School was founded in 1915, as a consequence of the official report into the loss of the “Titanic”. In 1990, it became one of the country’s first 11-18 comprehensive secondary schools for boys to be awarded grant maintained status.

In September 1999, we became a Foundation School within the London Borough of Lambeth. The school is situated in Stamford Street on the south bank of the River Thames, in between Blackfriars Bridge and Waterloo Bridge.

Science

Welcome to the Science department.

We have specialist teachers in all three of the Sciences and they all share the same passion for Science and are dedicated to inspiring pupils to grow in appreciation of the subject. We offer a variety of courses in an effort to make Science accessible and relevant to all. We strongly believe in delivering challenging and exciting lessons and use of group work, discussion, practical work and technology to deliver the courses successfully.

At Key stage 3 pupils learn about scientific research, Science in the workplace and the reliability of data, through subjects such as electricity and magnetism, clinical investigations and chemical reactions.

At Key stage 4 we offer Double Award Science and this year, we announced the introduction of Triple Science. The GCSE courses will allow your son to move forward confidently into the study of A Levels. Triple science comes highly recommended for those pupils, planning to pursue Science A Levels in particular. We also offer the equally valid BTEC Applied Science route; which is 100% coursework and allows pupils to follow a more practical based approach to Science.
