About us

The London Nautical School was founded in 1915, as a consequence of the official report into the loss of the “Titanic”. In 1990, it became one of the country’s first 11-18 comprehensive secondary schools for boys to be awarded grant maintained status.

In September 1999, we became a Foundation School within the London Borough of Lambeth. The school is situated in Stamford Street on the south bank of the River Thames, in between Blackfriars Bridge and Waterloo Bridge.

The school provided a colour guard for the annual Remembrance Service at Tower Hill on Sunday 6th November 2009. The party was assisted by Mr Jurd and led by Jacob Jones in year 10. Parents of the boys involved were alo in attendance. Many members of the service commented on the high standard of the boys dress and how they represented the school so well. The service is held annually at the Tower Hill Merchant Navy Memorial by The Honourable Company of Mater Mariners to commemorate seafarers of both the Merchant and Royal Navies who lost their lives in the two world Wars and other conflicts
