On Tuesday 7th June, LNS, in association with Southbank, are taking over parts of the Festival Hall and surrounding area as part of the Festival of Britain 60th anniversary celebrations. One of the original festival areas was dedicated to the sea and this day will be celebrating various activities to do with the river and sea. The school will be presenting some nautical singing, drama and poetry, and art activities and will have various display boards around relating to the school in the 50’s etc. There will also be one of the schools stratos keels on display together with a drascombe that we are hoping to purchase in the near future when grants and funding are found, and the schools motorboat will hopefully be out on the water. Some of the boys will also be giving knotting demonstrations (you’re welcome to join in!)
In addition the Hampshire and Wight Trust for Marine Archaeology are bringing their bus up to help visitors explore this area, and we’re hoping UKSA will bring their windsurf simulator!
If any of you would like to join us for all or part of the day you are very welcome – there’s a lot going on elsewhere as well for a good day out, with a brand new garden area and mini beach. We also have the use of two beach huts, one of which will be showing the 50’s film of the school and a new mini documentary about the school the IT department have been working on.
We will be in full swing from about 10am to 4pm with different things happening at different times, so do come and join us if you can.
