As part of our whole school policy to ensure that high standards are
maintained within the school community, the following Code of Practice (The
Pupil Code) outlines a set of rules for all pupils who attend the London
Nautical School.
Boys are expected to follow this Code whenever they are on the school
premises, on a school journey, attending an off-site venue, or on their way to
and from school.
NOTE: Amendments and additions to the Code may occur from
time-to-time and temporary suspension of certain school rules and regulations
may occasionally be granted by the Headmaster.
- All boys are required to attend school regularly and punctually. No boy
may leave the premises during the school day without prior permission from the
Headmaster or Deputy Headmaster.
- Full uniform must be worn properly on all school occasions. The wearing of
earrings and other items of jewellery is not permitted and hairstyles must be
in keeping with the uniform of the school. (i.e. above the collar, above
the eyebrow and above the ear).
- Boys are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly and gentlemanly
manner, having regard for others at all times. Any behaviour likely to cause
injury or distress to person or property will be treated as a very serious
offence.
- Boys must bring all necessary books (including hymnbooks and planners) and
equipment to school and must have a suitable change of clothing for physical
education and nautical lessons.
- All school property, including library books and exercise books, must be
carefully looked after. School computing equipment must not be misused. A
charge may be made for any loss or damage.
- Boys must record homework in their homework diaries and are required to
complete homework for every subject every week.
- No food or drink is to be consumed inside the school building other than
in the dining hall and boys must not eat or drink in the street. Chewing gum
must not be brought to school and no litter is to be dropped.
- Boys must not bring cigarettes, cigarette lighters, matches, knives,
fireworks, or any other potentially dangerous articles to school. Smoking is
regarded as a very serious breach of the Pupil Code.
- Boys should not bring large amounts of cash to school and buying and
selling between pupils is not permitted.
Mobile telephones, personal stereos, CD players, mini-disc players, pagers,
or any other electrical communication device must not be brought to school.
