LONDON NAUTICAL SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION Funding and Bids for year ended 31 January 2008 The PTA continues to raise funds, and uses this money to purchase items and fund projects throughout the school. We receive regular bids from staff, departments clubs and individuals, and this year we have: Supported the VI Form Summer Ball – an inaugural event organised by VI Form students, which was deemed to be a great success Purchased crockery for the new VI Form Common Room, and furniture for their outdoor seating areas Supported a fund-raiser evening for the British Heart Foundation, organised by a VI Form Student Purchased pace sticks for the Drill Squad Purchased X-Box controllers for the Games Club Provided calculators for all new year 7 students – welcome to LNS! Helped purchase art reference books to support the work of KS3 and GCSE students, and a Plan Chest for storage of art work Puchased a microwave for the staff room Purchased a chin-up bar for the PE Department Going forward, the PTA is keen to focus on supporting the nautical ethos of the school and encouraging the sea as a career option, so we will be looking to favour bids which have clear links to these.
